摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an electro-optical device, by which light can be collected efficiently in an opened area of each pixel of the electro-optical device such as a liquid crystal device and a high-quality image can be displayed over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The substrate for the electro-optical device includes: a first transparent substrate (210); a second transparent substrate (220) which is arranged on the first transparent substrate and on the surface of which on the side opposed to the first transparent substrate a groove (225), which is used for refracting the light entering an unopened area (D2) so that the refracted light goes to the opened area (D1), is dug in at least a part of the unopened area other than the opened area.
