PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine stop control device capable of reducing a load on a starter motor, and elongating the life of the starter motor, in the engine stop control device stopping an engine when a predetermined stop condition is materialized and then restarting the engine when a predetermined restart condition is materialized. SOLUTION: In case that a position of a piston of a cylinder in an expansion stroke while the engine stops is within a combustion returning range, the combustion of the engine is restarted within predetermined time period after the engine stops. Even under the engine stop condition wherein the engine conventionally have to be started by the starter motor, engine action is returned by combustion immediately after the engine stops if the position of the position in within the combustion returning range. Therefore, the frequency in use of the starter motor can be decreased, and the load on the load on the starter motor can be reduced. Consequently, the life of the starter motor can be elongated.
