An optical signal checker is provided to detect short of an optical line, no transmission of optical signal, and normal or weak signal and display with light. An optical signal checker comprises an optical signal inlet, a receiving element(130), an optical-electrical converting unit(140), a controller(150) and a display unit(170). The optical signal inlet allows for entering of an optical signal. The receiving element receives the optical signal from the optical signal inlet. The optical-electrical converting unit converts the optical signal received by the receiving element into an electrical signal. The controller compares the electrical signal with a standard value to judge transmission and abnormality of the optical signal. The display unit displays the state of the optical signal with light by output of the controller.
