The rack (20) has a housing for storing a set of interchangeable tools (200). The housing has guides (60) for allowing the interchangeable tools to be inserted into a free space of the housing between the guides along a direction. The housing has retaining surfaces for limiting the movements of the tools in another direction. A tooth (100) is provided between the guides for limiting the movements of the tools in the latter direction in a plane other than that of the retaining surfaces and the guides, to tilt the tools when a force is applied to the tools along the latter direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for actuating a coordinate measuring machine.
