<p>An apparatus and a method for generating a device address of a wireless local network are provided to generate a zone identity and the device address corresponding to the generated zone identity, thereby preventing device address collision between devices. A device address generating apparatus comprises a beacon receiving unit(110), an alien beacon determining unit(120), a zone identity managing unit(130), a device address generating unit(140), a beacon generating unit(160) and a beacon transmitting unit(150). The alien beacon determining unit determines whether a received beacon is an alien beacon. If so, the zone identity managing unit determines whether an alien zone identity included in the beacon is consistent with its own zone identity. If so, the zone identity managing unit regenerates its own zone identity. If the same device address as its own device address is present in an alien beacon group, the device address generating unit regenerates its own device address.</p> |
