摘要 A surface light source device is provided to improve a brightness uniformity of the device by preventing a discharge gas in one discharge space from migrating into another discharge space. A surface light source device includes a rear substrate(320), a front substrate(310), plural barrier ribs(330), and a fluorescent layer. The front substrate is attached to the rear substrate to define discharge spaces between them. The barrier ribs are arranged on an upper surface of the rear substrate, such that a predetermined distance is maintained between the front and rear substrates and the discharge spaces are defined between the front and rear substrates. The fluorescent layer is formed on an inner surface of the discharge space. A concave through-hole is formed on the barrier rib, such that two discharge spaces communicate with each other. Two opposing sides of the through-hole are elongated from a planar portion and an end portion of the through-hole, respectively, and mated with the planar portion in a curved shape. The two sides are point-symmetrical with respect to each other around horizontal and vertical center points of the through-hole. A virtual joining plane of the curved portion at one side of the through-hole, which is closest in a vertical direction from the planar portion of the other side of the through-hole, is formed to cross the curved portion of the other side of the through-hole.
