METHOD FOR SELECTING A SERVING PNC BASED ON FER, AND WIRELESS DEVICE USING THE SAME

A method for selecting a serving PNC based on an FER(Frame Error Rate) in a WMN and a wireless device using the same are provided to implement an efficient communication system by reselecting the PNC having optimized states by checking the FER of peripheral PNCs periodically, while the wireless device is performing data communication by determining the serving PNC. If data to be transmitted is generated after parameters are initialized to ready for data communication, an initial serving PNC(Piconet coordinator) is selected(S100). The data communication is performed with the corresponding serving PNC by deciding a frame size of an initial MAC frame for transmitting and receiving the selected initial serving PNC and packets(S200). After selecting the initial serving PNC, a PNC, which has the best channel state within the same coverage, is reselected as a serving PNC periodically(S300). When the serving PNC is reselected, the frame size of the reselected serving PNC and a MAC frame for transmitting and receiving the packets is determined to perform data communication with the corresponding serving PNC. If no data more exists or an FER of the reselected serving PNC is higher than the permitted maximum FER, the data communication is terminated(S400).
