摘要 A perpendicular magnetic recording medium with a multilayer recording structure including an intergranular exchange enhancement layer is provided to form first and second ferromagnetic layers and a ferromagnetic intergranular exchange layer in order achieve optimum intergranular exchange coupling and recording performance without more thickness of a capping layer. A perpendicular magnetic recording medium comprises a substrate, a first ferromagnetic layer(MAG1), a second ferromagnetic layer(MAG2), and a ferromagnetic intergranular exchange enhancement layer. The first ferromagnetic layer is formed on the substrate, has an out-of-plane magnetization easy axis, and includes a segregant for reducing intergranular exchange coupling. The second ferromagnetic layer is formed on the first ferromagnetic layer, has an out-of-plane magnetization easy axis, and includes a segregant for reducing intergranular exchange coupling. The ferromagnetic intergranular exchange enhancement layer is in contact with at least one of the first and second ferromagnetic layers.
