An accumulating unit (105) accumulates a movement amount of a mobile object calculated by an inertial sensor. A calculating unit (106) calculates a current position of the mobile object with a GPS device. An estimating unit (107) estimates a current position based on the accumulated movement amount and the calculated current position. A detecting unit (104) detects a detachment of the detachable unit (102). A communication unit (103) sends the accumulated movement amount from the fixed unit (101) to the detachable unit (102). The estimating unit (107) estimates, upon detecting an attachment, a current position of the mobile object upon the attachment of the detachable unit (102) based on the current position estimated upon the detachment of the detachable unit (102) and the movement amount accumulated while the detachable unit (102) is detached.
