The device (11) has a directional drive and fires defensive shells from firing tubes (17) of a container mounted rotatably and so as to be elevatable about an azimuth axis (14) on a container via a suspension. The elevation of the container extends over at least approximately 360 degrees and in addition it has at least one fog launcher tube (18) for fog droplets for a resulting center of gravity of the occupied suspension on the azimuth axis.
