<p>The method involves providing a selection of digitally encoded traffic reports output to a receiver. A priority identifying the degree of the respective traffic hold-ups is allocated to the received traffic reports. In dependence on the number of the traffic reports, the reports to be output are selected according to the priority. The priority may be derived from the occurrence of a respective received traffic report. The highest priority is allocated when a traffic report of a special category, such as extra-urgent, is received. The method involves using a receiver with a decoder for digitally encoded the reports. The decoder includes an event list for decoding the reports. In the list, for each event a priority is carried out according to the effect of events on the traffic flow. The apparatus also has a memory storing the priorities.</p> |
