<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make accurately detectable a scene change even as to a faded image when the scene change between two images is detected by using a histogram. <P>SOLUTION: A histogram generating circuit 103 for generating a histogram includes: a one-block's share component summating circuit 201; a level discrimination circuit 202; fine division summing amount discrimination circuit parts 203; and a level counter part 204. Each fine division summing amount discrimination circuit part 203<SB>i</SB>obtains a first histogram count corresponding to a level at a distribution ratio and a second histogram count at a level adjacent to the level above, and respectively provides an output to a first level counter 204<SB>i</SB>corresponding to the level above and a second level counter at the adjacent level to the level above. The level counters respectively accumulate the histogram counts to calculate the histogram. A histogram difference calculation circuit 105 obtains a difference of the histograms as to the image of the preceding and the present image patterns, calculates the sum of the differences, and a comparison judging circuit 106 compares the sum of differences with a threshold value to detect a scene change. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
