A digital variable resistor circuit and a display device having the same are provided to prevent the operation of the digital variable resistor circuit during an asynchronous interval by implementing a switching element, which is driven based on a gate on signal, at an input stage of the digital variable resistor circuit. A display device includes a display panel, a gate driver, a gate voltage generator(317), a digital variable resistor(313), and a common voltage generator(315). The display panel includes pixels, which are defined by gate and source lines which are crossed each other, having liquid crystal capacitors. The gate driver outputs gate signals to the gate lines. The gate voltage generator outputs gate on/off signals to the gate driver. The digital variable resistor outputs a control common voltage in response to the gate on signal. The common voltage generator generates common voltages, which are supplied to common electrodes of the liquid crystal capacitors, based on the control common voltages.
