An improved web-fed or reel-fed printing press S' comprises printing means 3 having a printing motor, cutting means 7 having a cutting means motor. Means for controlling the printing means motor and the cutting means motor may be provided, comprising software and/or firmware and/or electronic circuitry, but does not include hardware common to the motors, such as a common shaft drive. The apparatus S' also comprises a folding means having a folding means motor also controlled by the control means. This arrangement provides a particularly advantageous effect, whereby the motors are independently driven, but commonly controlled. |
