The present invention provides for a mobile radio communications device handset having a communications section for network access operations and an applications section for user-interface operations, and further including personalisation locks for controlling operation on the basis of the identification of whether a SIM card received therein is authorised, wherein the device is arranged such that the applications section can operate with a SIM card that will be identified as unauthorised by personalisation locks associated with a communications section, and such that data transfer between such a SIM and the device handset can be allowed.
