A backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display apparatus having the same are provided to improve the usage efficiency of light and prevent a lowering of brightness and error by forming a groove in the light guide plate. A backlight assembly includes a light guide plate(210), a light source unit, and an attaching member(230). The light source unit is located on an incidence surface of the light guide plate. The light source unit includes a ductile circuit board for the light source and at least one of LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) mounted on the ductile circuit board. The attaching member attaches to the ductile circuit board for the light source and the light guide plate for fixing the light source unit. A hole is formed on a place where the attaching member is attached to substantially match between a light emitting surface of the light emitting diode and the inclined surface of the light guide plate. |
