The hydraulic clutch actuating mechanism (10) moves a clutch (12) release member (24). A slave cylinder (20) contains a spring-loaded (50) slave piston (22) with a piston rod (52) connected to the end of the pivoted (54) clutch release member. Hydraulic fluid under pressure passes through a line (102) from an adjustment cylinder (26) with an adjustment piston (28) moved by an electric motor (M). Sensors (106,110) on the adjustment cylinder are connected to a control circuit (C). A high-pressure line (100) connects this cylinder to a master cylinder (14) with a piston (16) connected (42) to a lever (18) carrying the clutch pedal (46).
