Method for configuring an operating device of a controller

The method involves transmitting configuration information required for configuring an operating unit (14). The operating unit is detachably connected to a control (7) i.e. microprocessor based control, where the operating unit has a display (18) e.g. LCD, a memory (39) and an input device. The configuration information is transmitted from the control to the operating unit at the time of connecting the operating unit to the control. The configuration information is utilized in one operating unit and saved in the memory. An independent claim is also included for a control device.
