A light generating device is provided to detect over-current flowing through a light source group and adjust a driving voltage applied to light sources based on the detected over-current to prevent the light source group from being damaged by the over-current. A light generating device includes a power supply unit(100), a light generator(200), a over-current detector(300), and a controller(400). The power supply unit converts an external AC voltage into a DC voltage. The light generator includes a terminal for receiving the DC voltage and a plurality of light source groups commonly connected to the terminal. The over-current detector detects over-currents flowing to the light source groups and sums up the detected over-currents. The controller receives the summed over-currents and provides a power cut signal for blocking the output of the DC voltage to the power supply unit. |
