An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to remove static electricity and noise effectively and reduce emission of electromagnetic waves. An LCD includes an insulating substrate, a plurality of gate lines(121), a driver, and first and second gate line connecting circuits(125,126). The insulating substrate includes a display area and a peripheral area surrounding the display area. The gate lines are formed in the display area and a part of the peripheral area. The driver is formed in the peripheral area and applies a gate on signal and a gate off signal to the gate lines. The first and second gate line connecting circuits connect both ends of neighboring gate lines, electrically open one of the neighboring gate lines when the gate on signal is applied to the other gate line and electrically short the neighboring gate lines when the gate line off signal is applied to both the neighboring gate lines. |
