APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONSTITUTING CHARACTER USING HEAD MOTION

An apparatus and a method for inputting characters by using motion of a head are provided to enable a severely handicapped to input characters easily and to exchange information with others via a terminal like a portable phone or a computer by moving the head left, right, up and down. A method for inputting characters comprises the following several steps. A program or an apparatus starts operation(S100). A user moves the head in a set direction(S101), selects a specific number group where a character to be inputted on a screen keyboard is included(S102), moves the head in a set direction(S103) and selects a wanted number key within the selected specific number group(S104). If the user selects one number key, the user moves the head in a set direction for selecting one among characters assigned to the selected number key wherein the maximum number of the characters can be three(S105,S106). If finishing inputting the final characters(S107), the program or the apparatus is restored to an initial state.
