APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING MOBILE TV SERVICE BY USING MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A multimedia mobile TV service apparatus and method using a mobile communication system are provided to enable a base station or a mobile terminal to process an image captured by a user to thus shorten time for processing and displaying the image and quickly provide a better mobile TV broadcast service to the user. A base station receives a plurality of channel signals via a core network(S10). The base station selects a channel signal transmitted by a mobile terminal among the plural channels and transmits a mobile TV broadcast image or multimedia image of the corresponding channel to the mobile terminal, and the mobile terminal displays a broadcast image or a multimedia image of the corresponding channel(S20). The mobile terminal transmits a user instruction(S30). Upon receiving the user instruction, the base station checks whether the user instruction is to move a channel or scale up or down an image(S40). If the user instruction is to scale up or down an image, the base station scales up or down the image of the corresponding channel according to a pre-set size(S50,S60). If the user instruction is to shift to an arbitrary channel image, the base station shifts to a channel selected by the mobile terminal(S70). The base station transmits the processed image to the mobile terminal(S80), and the mobile terminal receives and displays the processed image(S90).
