ELECTRIC TAG FOR PRIVACY PROTECTION AND METHOD FOR PRIVACY PROTECTION USING THE ELECTRIC TAG

An electronic tag for protecting privacy and a method for protecting privacy by using the same are provided to protect tag data and privacy by transferring information to only RFID readers which own legal rights. A method for protecting privacy comprises the following several steps. An RFID reader outputs inventory commands to a tag which is in a ready state. If a value of a slot counter in the tag is 0, the tag moves from an arbitrate state to a reply state. If the value of the slot counter is not 0, the tag waits for a query adjust and a query reply command from the reader. The reader recognizes the tag with a random number value. The tag, to which a privacy tag is set, transfers a value like an RN16 value to the reader, and then moves from the reply state to a private state. The reader transmits a command for requesting a new RN16 value to the tag. The tag responses 'handle' to the command and moves from the private state to an open state. The reader accesses the tag by using 'handle' as a parameter, makes the tag in a secured state by using an access password, and reads protocol control, unique item identifier and a CRC-16 value from the tag by using a tag read command.
