A decorative cover for a mailbox door includes a sheet that is contoured to fit on the mailbox door. The sheet-can include a cut-out to accommodate the mailbox latch. The front surface of the sheet carries a desired graphic, suc h as a decorative indicia or design. The cover sheet is formed of a material that allows substantially the entire back surface of the sheet to be attached directly t o the mailbox cover by an affinity between the cover sheet material and the mailbo x cover material. In one embodiment, this affinity is accomplished by magnetis m through the use of a magnetic sheet. In an alternative embodiment, the affinity property is electrostatic or static cling.
