A contents list updating method of a mobile communication terminal and a device thereof are provided to update a contents list DB automatically whenever an external memory is inserted or removed, thereby immediately displaying a contents list even though a user executes a contents player. An external memory(180) is detached from an external memory connector(182). An external memory confirmer(192) confirms an external memory connection state. A contents list DB(172) stores information on contents files stored in the external memory and an internal memory(170). If it is confirmed that the connection state of the external memory is changed, a list updating processor(194) updates the contents list DB.
