A linear motor for a reciprocating compressor is provided to reduce iron loss through an inner stator and a member positioned in an inside of the inner stator by allowing a current to flow on a coil and flux around the coil to be generated outside an outer stator. A linear motor for a reciprocating compressor includes an inner stator(111), an outer stator(112), and a permanent magnet(113). The permanent magnet maintains a gap between the stators, and reciprocates and linearly moves by a mutual electromagnetic force. The outer stator includes core blocks(112a,112a') arranged in a circumferential direction by a predetermined gap and coils(112b) wound around internal diameters and external diameters of the core blocks. The outer stator is installed to surround the core blocks and further includes core guides(112c) wound around an outer circumference surface.
