A base member for a seat belt retractor is provided to facilitate rotation of a clutch roller by preventing a locking section from being broken by using a reinforcing rib. A base member for a seat belt retractor comprises a central through hole. A gear member(550) is coupled with a connector(400) while interposing a base member(500) therebetween. Cylindrical clutch rollers(540) are assembled to the base member along the inner peripheral surface of the base member. Two or more locking sections(510) are formed in the inner peripheral surface of the base member to be coupled with the cylindrical clutch rollers. Each locking section has first and second openings. The first opening is located far from the center of the central through hole as compared with the second opening. The second opening serves as an inlet of the clutch roller.
