<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein paper is appropriately conveyed to a nip part between a photoreceptor drum and a transfer roller, then, the image quality deterioration of an image formed on the paper is prevented, without increasing the scale of the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Since the width dimension A of the conveying guide extending in a width direction orthogonal to a paper conveying direction is set shorter than the dimension of the maximum paper width W of the paper, it is unnecessary to increase the scale of the image forming apparatus 10. The width direction B of a sheet member 60 extending in a width direction orthogonal to the paper conveying direction at the upstream end part 60A in the paper conveying direction is set equal to or shorter than the width direction A extending in the width direction of the conveying guide 56.
