PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field color sequential projector for controlling power supplied to a light source according to an element pulse width or a duty ratio of a control pulse. SOLUTION: The projector 1 is equipped with a lamp 11 serving as the light source, a power supply circuit 21 for supplying power to the lamp 11, a color wheel 12 for repeatedly forming each of a plurality of colors of light from the light generated by the lamp 11 in a predetermined order, an optical modulation element 13 for modulating the light of each color based on video signals, a projection optical system 14 for sequentially projecting the modulated light of each color, and a control part 24 for giving the control pulse to the power supply circuit 21. The control part 24 gives the control pulse composed of the element pulse having the pulse width or the duty ratio associated with supply power to the power supply circuit 21, and according to the element pulse width or the duty ratio of the given control pulse, the power supply circuit 21 determines power supplied to the lamp 11, and supplies the determined power to the lamp 11.
