PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing and/or reducing the formation of deposits in an engine, including to provide a lubricant composition to the engine. SOLUTION: The lubricant composition comprising a base oil containing a less amount of a cyclobenzene compound (the cyclobenzene compound includes dicyclobenzene, tricyclobenzene, tetracyclobenzene and their combinations) than those of other base oils is used for an engine to prevent and/or reduce the formation of deposits in the engine.
