PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can improve the efficiency for cleaning a head and reduce the consumption of a liquid such as ink by making flow velocity for the suction from a cap section with a pump section to be the highest quickly. SOLUTION: The liquid ejector 10 is equipped with a liquid jet head 100 for discharging a liquid from a nozzle opening toward a target K, a cap section 20a coming into contact with the liquid jet head so as to cover the nozzle opening, a pump section 21 for sucking the liquid in the cap section, a waste fluid receiver 25 for receiving the liquid sucked by the pump section and a liquid reverse flow section 21 for returning the liquid in the waste fluid receiver into the cap section through the pump section.
