PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve imaging accuracy of an image sensed by selectively using the infrared light without complicated structure. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus senses an image using a lens unit for inputting an external light to an imaging element for outputting an electric signal in accordance with intensity of incident light and is provided with a filter supporting mechanism for operating an optical filter for absorbing the light in the particular wavelength region between a first location on the optical path where an external light is incident to the imaging element at the time of imaging operation and a second location dislocated from the optical path. In this imaging apparatus, whether the infrared light shielding filter is located in the dislocated area or not is determined (step S309) and a light emitting element in the photosensor is extinguished when the infrared light shielding filter is located in the dislocated area (step S310).
