PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna element which is small-sized and further improves WAN band communication characteristics (sensitivity) while utilizing a conductive housing as a ground plate. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an antenna element constituted of a thin conductor (1) for external ground connection connected to an external ground part, a thin radiation element (2) and a thin parasitic element (3) extending together from the thin conductor (1) for external ground connection. The thin radiation element (2) is disposed while presenting a returned-shape in parallel with a lengthwise direction of the thin conductor (1) for external ground connection, the thin parasitic element (3) exists outside the thin radiation element (2) and its main portion is disposed in parallel with the lengthwise direction of the thin conductor (1) for external ground connection. Furthermore, the returned thin radiation element (2) is involved within a space formed from the thin parasitic element (3) and the thin conductor (1) for external ground connection.
