The present invention relates to a system for evacuation of persons from a fixed or floating platform at sea, where the system comprises a lifeboat (9) and a lifeline (1), as the lifeboat (9) is arranged to run along the lifeline (1) from the installation to sea level. The lifeline (1) is, in evacuation mode, arranged tight between the platform and a buoy (3) lying close to the sea surface and in fair distance from the platform.
