<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more suitably correct a defect of a pixel by preferentially correcting a pixel value of a defective pixel having a high defective level. <P>SOLUTION: A defect detection part 103 in an image processing apparatus compares maximum value image data having the maximum value of pixel values of pixels of respective positions in a plurality of detection target image data obtained by two or more times of photographing as a pixel value with a threshold for detecting a white defect, detects defective pixels and defective levels, selects upper N defective pixels having large defect levels on the basis of the defect levels and registers the selected defective pixels in a defect data table. Consequently, a defect correction part 101 preferentially corrects the pixel values of defective pixels having high defective levels.
