<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting apparatus which can read and write information accurately for an RF tag fixed to a component holder, and to provide a method for reading and writing the information of an RF tag in an electronic component mounting apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When information is read from or written to an RF tag sheet 15 fixed to a nozzle 14 by means of a reader/writer 9 having a narrow-bottom three-dimensional processing object range R, a search process for locating the nozzle 14 below the processing object range R and lowering the reader/writer 9 gradually while operating it after aligning the plane center line CL of the processing object range R planarly with the right position of an object nozzle 14* is performed, and a nozzle 14 detected first in the processing object range R is specified as an object nozzle 14.
