KNEE AIRBAG DEVICE WITH COLUMN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress and prevent the obstruction of contraction action of a column tube at a collision as much as possible.

SOLUTION: A module case 48 of an airbag module 54 is supported on a rear end side of an inner tube 26 by a mounting bracket 70. The mounting bracket 70 is slidably formed of a first bracket 78 and second bracket 80. An opening 72 is formed in a bottom wall part 48C of the module case 48. When an airbag 52 is inflated, a part 52C thereof is extruded out of the opening 72 to press the inner tube 26. The airbag module 54 is slid downward by the reaction R. The column lower cover 22 is also separated. In this way, the interference between the airbag module 54 and the bottom 40A in the housing 40 can be avoided at the contraction of the column.
