摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging device capable of suppressing the increase of power consumption even when the number of pixels is increased or an imaging speed is made fast. <P>SOLUTION: The solid-state imaging device 1 includes a photodetection unit 10 for imaging, a photodetection unit 20 for monitoring, a row selector 30, a column selector 40, a voltage holding unit 50, an output unit 60, and a control unit 70. The output unit 60 outputs digital values (pixel data) corresponding to the amounts of electric charges accumulated in charge storage portions of pixel units P<SB>1,1</SB>to P<SB>M,N</SB>, and the photodetection unit 20 for monitoring outputs an incident light monitor signal having a pulse frequency corresponding to the amount of electric charges generated per unit time. The control unit 70 inputs the incident light monitor signal output from the output unit 60, and outputs a charge accumulating operation control signal instructing charge accumulating operation to the respective pixel units P<SB>m,1</SB>to P<SB>m,N</SB>of the photodetection unit 10 for imaging when the pulse frequency of the incident light monitor signal is larger than a threshold value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
