SURFACE CONDUCTION ELECTRON EMITTING ELEMENT AND ELECTRON SOURCE USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface conduction electron emitting element including carbon nanotubes in particular, and an electron source utilizing the electron emitting element.

SOLUTION: The surface conduction electron emitting element includes a substrate and a plurality of electrodes installed in parallel with the substrate. The surface conduction electron emitting element includes a plurality of carbon nanotube elements fitted in a plurality of the electrodes, respectively. Some of the carbon nanotube elements are fixed to the electrodes, and ends facing each other extend in the direction of adjacent electrodes.
