<p>A cured aryl(thio)ether aryl polysiloxane composition is provided to realize a high refractive index, transparency and excellent thermal stability when used in optical instruments. A cured aryl(thio)ether aryl polysiloxane composition comprises an aryl(thio)ether aryl polysiloxane represented by the formula (I) of (R1nSiO(4-n)/2)a(O(4-p-r)/2R2pSiZrSiR3qO(4-q-r)/2)b. In formula (I), n in an (R1nSiO(4-n)/2) unit represents 0, 1, 2 or 3; each of p and q in an (O(4-p-r)/2R2pSiZrSiR3qO(4-q-r)/2) unit represents 0, 1, 2 or 3, with the proviso that p+q=0 or [8-(2r+1)], wherein r is 1, 2 or 3; Z is selected from -CHR4CHR5-Xs-, arylene, substituted arylene and combinations thereof, wherein -CHR4CHR5-Xs- represents a silicon-bridged alkylene moiety, each X is selected from methylene, phenyl, substituted phenyl, O and combinations thereof, and s is 0 or 1; each of R4 and R5 is selected from H, aryl (thio)ether aryl and alkyl; R1, R2 and R3 include a Si-bonded organic group selected from alkenyl, H, aryl, alkyl, OH, alkoxy, aryloxy, aryl (thio)ether aryl, another hydrocarbon radical and combinations thereof, wherein at least one of R1, R2 and R3 includes a Si-bonded aryl (thio)ether aryl group; and a and b represent the mole fraction of (R1nSiO(4-n)/2) units and (O(4-p-r)/2R2pSiZrSiR3qO(4-q-r)/2) units, respectively, with the proviso that each of a and b ranges from 0 to 1 and a+b=1.</p> |
