<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timing controller and a display device equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The timing controller includes a data mapping section which receives first video data consisting of (m) bits from an external device in synchronism with a first clock, converts the first video data into second video data consisting of 2<SP>n</SP>bits, and stores the second video data in an external memory having a 2<SP>n</SP>-bit bandwidth, and a data mapping section which reads the second video data out of the external memory in response to a second clock and reconverts the second video data into the first video data consisting of (m) bits. A clock frequency can, therefore, be decreased by adjusting the number of bits of the video data adaptively to the bandwidth of the external memory, and consequently power consumption is reducible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
