<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting a contaminant in an aqueous solution to quantify. <P>SOLUTION: In one embodiment of the present invention, this device for detecting the contaminant in the liquid is provided with a sensor 4, and a controller 6. The sensor 4 is provided with a membrane 12, and a converter 10, the converter 10 is constituted to liquid-communicate the first face of the converter 10 with the liquid, during use, and to arrange the membrane 12 between the first face and the liquid. The membrane 12 may be a polymer material capable of disturbing conveyance of an undesirable species passed through the membrane 12.
