<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center feed type developing device capable of preventing the deterioration of development, tailing and a faint thin line due to clogging by developer. <P>SOLUTION: When it is assumed that a line linking the centers of an upper developing roll 2 and a photoreceptor 1 is 0°, an angle formed by this line with a line linking the position of a developing main pole contributing to the development of the upper developing roll 2 with the center of the upper developing roll 2 isθ<SB>1</SB>, and an angle formed by a line linking the position of a developing main pole of a lower developing roll 3 with the center of the lower developing roll 3 with a line linking the centers of the lower developing roll 3 and the photoreceptor 1 isθ<SB>2</SB>, the developing device is adjusted to a condition satisfying expressions; 0°≤θ<SB>2</SB>-2θ<SB>1</SB>≤5°and -0.06(θ<SB>2</SB>-2θ<SB>1</SB>)+1.3≤G/D≤1.82.
