PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching device which detects and discriminates forward manipulation and backward manipulation of a moving element, detects a manipulated variable for each operation, and reduces the number of components and simplifies the configuration of the switching device. SOLUTION: The rotary switching device 1 includes the moving element 8 that turns, based on manipulation by a user, a plurality of operation elements 9 that are arranged at almost prescribed intervals along the direction of turning of the moving element 8; a first switch operating element 10 which turns on a first switch based on the move of the moving element 9 in the forward direction; and a second switch operating element 12 which turns on a second switch, based on the move of the moving element 9 in the returning direction.
