PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a transfer material carrier, which is capable of suppressing irregularities in an image due to peeling discharge when a transfer material is separated from the transfer material carrier. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100A is configured to include a transfer bias changing means 50 which changes a transfer bias output for transferring by a transfer bias output means 20 and an attraction bias changing means 50 which is one for changing an attraction bias output for attracting by an attraction bias output means 13 and makes the value of a first attraction bias output by the attraction bias output means 13, when the front end of the transfer material S in its moving direction passes through an attraction portion N different from the value of a second bias output by the attraction bias output means 13, when the back end of the transfer material S in its moving direction passes through the attraction portion N, according to the value of the transfer bias output by the transfer bias output means 20, for transferring with respect to the transfer material S.
