PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing electric power reel which can well hold the free performance of a spool, can maintain a clutch ON state, even when a line is wound up under a strong load, can switch a clutch without injuring the tooth surfaces of a gear, and has a good rotation performance. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the fishing electric power reel is characterized by forming an axial direction movement-inhibiting member 73 on the engaging surface 74 of a dent engaging portion 41b contacting with an engaging projection 7h, when a line is wound up with a driving motor 8 or a manual handle 6, and inhibiting the axial direction movement of a clutch connection member 41 with the axial direction movement-inhibiting member 73 to prevent the release of the engaging projection 7h from the dent engaging portion 41b, when the driving motor 8 or the manual handle 6 is driven to wind up the line. Thereby, a clutch ON state can be maintained, even when the line is wound up under a strong load, and an accident wherein an engagement state between the dent engaging portion 41b and the engaging projection 7h is released to make it impossible to wind up the line can be prevented.
