PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading processor that can be started by changing an application automatically according to the size of a read original without manually switching the application by a user, and has improved convenience, and to provide an image reading processing method. SOLUTION: The image reading processor is connected to a scanner for reading an image of an original, stores setting information where the application to be started according to the size of the original is defined, controls the scanner, determines the original size of the image read by scanner control and determines and starts the application corresponding to the original size determined based on the setting information.
