PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder capable of easily holding a rod-like body. SOLUTION: A holder body 2 made of sponge is provided with a holder hole 23 penetrating the center of the holder body 2 as well as a slit 24 penetrating the inner surface of the holder hole 23 from the outer surface of the holder body 2. When a user inserts the handle 51 of a brush with a handle into the holder hole 23 so as to be pushed into the slit 24 before use, the slit 24 spontaneously opens wide to allow the handle 51 to be passed through easily. When the user looses his/her hold, the handle 51 is firmly held by the holder body 2 which has returned to its original shape by elasticity restoring force. The handle 51 can be held in place with a single motion, and therefore, the user does not need to insert the handle 51 into the holder hole 23 in the axial length direction, or forcibly opens the slit 24 by hand to hold the handle 51 in place. This holder is also equipped with an attachment section 3 using a suction cup 31 on the back side of the holder body 2, so that the holder body 2 can be attached to a wall W by using the attachment section 3.
