Absorbent article (1) having surface member (20) joined considering the absorption performance thereof. The absorbent article (1) is one worn on the body having a longitudinal direction, a width direction and a thickness direction, comprising absorbent member (10) for absorption of liquid and liquid-permeable surface member (20), wherein the surface member (20) covers, in the thickness direction, the body side of the absorbent member (10) upon wearing, and wherein the surface member (20) has a surface sheet and an intermediate sheet disposed on the side of the absorbent member (10) relative to the surface sheet in the thickness direction, and wherein the surface sheet has a first depressed portion along a first direction while the intermediate sheet has a second depressed portion along a second direction crossing the first direction, and wherein the surface sheet and the intermediate sheet are joined to each other at the position of crossing of the first depressed portion with the second depressed portion. |
