A diffuser having a shape for reducing speckle noise and a laser projection system employing the same are provided to minimize the speckle noise with respect to the size of an opening of an optical system. A diffuser(20) having a shape for reducing speckle noise includes scattering patterns. The scattering patterns include a plurality of scattering bands which are arranged in a first axis direction and have a length in a second axis direction. Each of the scattering bands includes a first surface(20a) defined by the first axis and the second axis and a second surface(24a). The height of the second surface is changed according to a position thereof on the first axis with respect to the first surface. Each of the scattering bands has a concave shape or a convex shape. The diffuser is made of light transmitting material.
